Scoring and Division:

The USHA 2017 Spring 3 Trick Video Competition is considered a single round “3 Trick” event. The Event will be split into divisions (Novice, Intermediate, Advanced, Open, Outlaw, Pro). Some riders may know their division. The basic splitting will depend on trick levels and air (frames), as well as the number of participants. If you are unsure you will fit into a division, here is the division split:

  • Novice: No inverts
  • Intermediate: Up to 3 inverts
  • Advanced: Inverts, combos, 360s
  • Open: Inverts, combos, 360s, Fronts, up to one mobe
  • Outlaw: Limit 2 mobes
  • Pro: No limits

All levels will be judged on their first 3 tricks only, based on the Simplified Scoring (ranking) system used at Nationals and European hydrofoil competitions since 2012.

Eligibility of riders residing within and outside U.S.A.:

You must be an active member of USHA as of July 16, 2017. You can join as a “GRASSROOT ACTIVE” $35. See https://www.usawaterski.org/members/join/ to join. Video Submissions:

All videos can be submitted by email to h.hoerth@gmx.net or via internet using http://www.crocko.com/ (up to 1GB file size). See screenshot below. The video must remain available for download until Heinrich acknowledges that he has downloaded it. All video submissions must be in NTSC format or computer format (.avi, .mpeg, .mp4, .mov – with 30fps or 60fps).DVD or Digital Tape will be not accepted. You need to have a video-file and be able to upload it via internet.

Video:

Riders must submit a video of up to 45 second 3 trick ride (maximum). The video must clearly show the rider who is competing, and must clearly show foil entry and exit points (to judge air). So, video quality counts. The 45 seconds starts with the rider’s first trick, so it is okay to video from startup, etc. The video must be continuous -- no edits or starts/stops of the camera. If the rider falls, that counts toward the 45 seconds -- hey, you get unlimited attempts at putting together the run, so keep trying until you get it right. The video quality will count. The video should be zoomed proper so the rider will be in the mid 1/3 of the picture. Example: a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SBJ-OLZGyg">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8SBJ-OLZGyg or http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a_o6tddbD28

Turnarounds:

Because we only do a 45 second 3 trick competition there is no extra time for turns.

One Entry:

Each rider can submit only one entry. Please submit the video with the beginning at the start of the run. Do not submit additional trick video beyond the run itself.

Boats/equipment:

Please use what you normally ride behind – a standard wakeboard or ski inboard is preferred, or the typical inboard/outboard you use. No cabin cruisers please. A Tower extension (High Fly) or a AirSling is acceptable. Ballast must be within legal limits and the limits the boat is designed for. No kicker wakes. Rope length is limited to 100 feet. Standard safe practices must be followed. Speed is limited to 30 mph. If you plan on riding at 30 mph, please make sure your gauges are calibrated with a GPS.

Kicker wakes:

No kicker wakes please. We do not use them in our other competitions.

Cheating:

If it doesn’t show up on the video, the judges probably won’t know unless someone tells them. But like golf, we expect people to be honest and abide by the rules. What is the glory of winning dishonestly?

Consent:

By entering any competition, you give USHA the rights to use any photos or video as we please.

Insurance:

Any injuries are your responsibility. USHA is not insuring this competition.

Payment / Entry Fee: $25
